Douglas holds patent # 6907615 – Systems and Methods for Use in Interconnecting Consumer Electronic Devices This is a space-saving custom connector design that allows for intelligent, hands-free switching between composite video and S-video formats while providing uninterrupted audio. The connector design uses a 3.5mm connector plug-receptacle component combination that can be selectively adapted to support either composite video or S-video signal formats while providing for full stereo audio. The design is now used in almost every mobile consumer product involving the simultaneous delivery of both audio and video.
